Your First Visit Is All About You
Your first visit will be a comprehensive oral evaluation with Dr. Dougherty. During this time, we will review all your medical and dental history information gathered in your new patient forms.
We will assess any previous X-rays received and take additional X-rays necessary to thoroughly examine your teeth. The initial visit will also include intraoral photographs to document the condition of your teeth and gums.
Dr. Dougherty will evaluate the health of your gums with a periodontal exam. An oral cancer exam is performed at every appointment. Then Dr. Dougherty will create an individualized treatment plan.
Your Second Appointment
Your second appointment will be a consultation to present the recommended treatment. This time is especially reserved for your understanding of the recommended treatment, as well as a great time to ask questions and discuss finances and insurance.
Your preventive care appointment will be scheduled based on the findings at the initial oral evaluation appointment.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
Bring your smile, but also remember to bring these items with you to your first appointment:
- Your insurance card
- Your photo ID
Please also be sure to complete your New Patient paperwork online before your first visit.
Routine Checkups & Preventive Care
The American Dental Association recommends a visit to your dentist every six months for regular checkups and routine teeth cleanings to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
We understand you have a busy schedule, so when you’re preparing to visit our office, please remember your appointments can last between 60 and 90 minutes.
